PRESENTATION & LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The winning team, BioWise Solutions, from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), includes students Brian Castillo, Prabhkirat Singh, Alexander Reis, Benjamin Mendoza and Gianmarco Urbano.

For this year’s competition, we partnered with the City of Abbotsford to challenge teams to develop a strategy for improving water quality in the Fishtrap Creek watershed.

The team was recognized with an award at the 2026 BCWWA Annual Conference & Trade Show in Penticton, BC, this April. They will go on to compete on September 27 at the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) Student Design Competition in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Special thanks to our municipal sponsor, the City of Abbotsford.

Thank you to all the sponsors who made this competition possible: Carollo Engineers, Urban Systems, AECOM, Kerr Wood Leidal, City of Kelowna, CDM Smith, Associated Engineering, Mequipco, and Computational Hydraulics Inc. (CHI).
