Current Openings

Position description: The BCWWA Reconciliation Committee is seeking dedicated volunteers who are committed to advancing reconciliation within the One Water industry. Volunteers will work collaboratively with the committee to plan and participate in meaningful initiatives, including organizing a Cultural Tour at the Annual Conference, contributing to Watermark articles, supporting First Nations operators during the Operators Challenge, hosting an annual webinar, and promoting reconciliation efforts across the sector. In addition to these activities, volunteers will meet with the committee at least once per year to collaborate, share insights, and reflect on progress.

Number of positions open: Multiple

Time commitment: Variable and dependent on the number of volunteers. Individuals able to offer greater time commitments may be prioritized, but all expressions of interest are welcome.

Term length: One (1) year; eligible for extension.

Position description: The BCWWA Cross Connection Control Community of Practice Co-lead is responsible for sourcing and selecting topics, and moderating discussion and information sharing on the topic of cross connection control and backflow assembly. As discussion and information sharing may occur using a variety of written, verbal, virtual and in-person formats, the Co-Lead must be experienced and capable of organizing resources as well as facilitating conversations of a technical nature in those various formats. Community of Practice co-leads work closely with the BCWWA staff person assigned to the community and the community participants; they also work (less frequently) with BCWWA leadership council co-chairs and other BCWWA volunteer leaders.

Number of positions open: 1

Time commitment: A Community of Practice Co-lead can expect to spend up to 24 hours preparing for and leading up to six (6) meetings/sessions each year. Additional time will be required to moderate virtual discussions and information-sharing between community participants. A Community of Practice Co-lead may periodically be asked to attend meetings with the BCWWA Board of Directors and/or BCWWA leadership council co-chairs and other volunteer leaders.

Term length: Two (2) years; eligible for extension.

Position description: Peer reviewers for the BCWWA education program will aid in ensuring the relevancy, accuracy and overall quality of our course materials, thereby helping to ensure a competent water sector workforce. This role is responsible for reviewing student feedback on certification prep and elective course materials and providing final edits and recommendations to the education team.

Position description: The BCWWA Cross Connection Control Technical Advisory Committee Co-chair is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the committee and ensuring the committee’s work aligns with the Association’s strategic and operational plans, as well as managing the members of the committee to ensure projects and products are completed on-time and to a high-quality standard.

The Co-chairs are responsible for preparing topics and items for meeting agendas, chairing meetings and moderating discussion and decision-making, and reviewing meeting minutes and following-up to ensure the completion of action items by committee members.

This role is also responsible for identifying advancements, regulatory changes and issues arising within the industry and bringing them forward to the Board and staff. Technical Advisory Committee Chair/Co-chairs work closely with the BCWWA staff person assigned to the committee and the committee members; they also work (less frequently) with BCWWA leadership council co-chairs and other BCWWA volunteer leaders.

Time commitment: A Technical Advisory Committee Co-chair can expect to spend up to 24 hours preparing for and chairing up to six (6) committee meetings each year. Approximately four (4) hours will be required to prepare the annual workplan for the committee.

Additional time will be required to coordinate and follow-up on tasks and actions assigned to committee members, depending on the scope of the committee’s workplan.

Position description: The BCWWA Conference Planning Committee members are responsible for assisting the Committee Chair and BCWWA Staff in organizing a high-quality educational and professional development experience for the water sector.

Members are expected to actively participate in committee meetings and discussions, contributing ideas and feedback that reflect the diverse perspectives of the Association’s membership. This is a collaborative role that involves working closely with the Committee Chair, BCWWA staff, committee members, and occasionally other BCWWA volunteers.

All committee members are expected to be active and contributing participants, and a BCWWA, AWWA or WEF membership is required to volunteer on this committee.

Number of positions open: 10

Time commitment: Committee Members can expect to spend approximately nine (9) hours attending committee meetings between September 2026 and May 2027, eight (8) hours before the event and one (1) hour following the event. Additional time will be required to complete tasks and actions assigned to the Committee Member.

Term length: Fall 2026 – Spring 2027
