GETTING STARTED

Not sure how you want to get involved? Consider these options:

  • Become a BCWWA member to access all member benefits, ensure you have a current membership with the BCWWA. Login to your account to review your membership information.
  • Volunteer with the Association   we offer a range of opportunities for members who are dedicated to their work in the water sector and are willing to get more involved, no matter the area of expertise or experience level. 
  • Follow us on LinkedIn  stay up-to-date on upcoming events, professional development opportunities, industry news and more from the BCWWA.


SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE AND BUILD YOUR NETWORK

Joining a community of practice or group is a great way to get more involved in the work of the BCWWA and connect with other members in an area of particular interest. Anyone can join a community of practice — simply get in touch with us to learn more!

Communities of Practice (CoP) are spaces to build relationships and share information, resources and best practices to help you and/or your organization build knowledge and competency in a particular area of work. The BCWWA currently hosts four (4) active communities of practice:

    • Drinking Water Community of Practice
    • Green Infrastructure Community of Practice
    • Source Control Community of Practice
    • Wastewater Management Community of Practice


Groups 
build relationships and share information and resources among a group of individuals with shared experiences or interests. The BCWWA currently hosts one (1) active group:

    • Young Professionals Group

BE A VOICE FOR THE WATER SECTOR

Looking to work with like-minded individuals and make a difference within the water sector? Consider volunteering as a member of a standing technical advisory or program & membership advisory committee. Committee members must be a current BCWWA member in good standing.

Committees identify, raise awareness and discuss options to address emerging and current issues impacting the water sector, provide advice on BCWWA program and service delivery, help us organize professional development events, and prepare feedback on regulations, policies and guidelines impacting the water sector.

BE A LEADER

Interested in taking on a senior volunteer leadership role at the BCWWA and helping guide the direction of the Association We are always happy to chat with members about what senior volunteer leadership roles are available and how to apply.

Here is how to get started:

  1. Volunteer as a Co-Lead of a community of practice or group, or a Co-Chair of a technical advisory committee or program & membership advisory committee.
  2. Submit an application to become a BCWWA Board Director and help set the direction for the Association for a three-year term.
