The BC Water & Waste Association is a not-for-profit association, incorporated under the BC Society Act. The Constitution and Bylaws of a society outline the mandate and governance of the organization.

The BCWWA is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by members and comprised of eight Directors and three ex-officio representatives from our affiliated organizations, the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA), American Water Works Association (AWWA) and Water Environment Federation (WEF). A Leadership Council, comprised of chairs from the BCWWA’s committees, provides guidance and input to the Board about the Association’s goals and strategies.

The role of the Board is to provide strategic direction for the organization, based on input from members and other important stakeholders in the water sector. The Board oversees management of the organization by monitoring compliance with written policies that describe the organization’s ends (goals), governance, executive limitations, and the Board-CEO relationship.

The work of the Association is supported by 11 staff.

All staff, Board members, volunteers and event attendees are expected to abide by the Association's Code of Conduct.
