APEGBC: Stormwater Detention Facility Design

The focus of this seminar will be on the analysis and design of stormwater detention facilities, using both event-based infrastructure sizing methods as well as long-term continuous simulation.

At the conclusion of the seminar, it is expected that participants will be able to understand the design strategies and modeling methodologies for sizing stormwater ponds that encompass a range of design functions and objectives.

Seminar Outline

1. Overview of Stormwater Management

  • Local and Western Canadian perspective
  • North American perspective

2. Traditional Pond Design

  • Event-based sizing
