Operator Education Update
BCWWA Operator Education program is always looking for ways to enhance the learning experience for both the Operator and their employers.
Right now we are in the process of reviewing the current courseware to update and upgrade our courses. This review will check for content accuracy, currency and alignment with the ABC Needs to Know criteria. This process is expected to take considerable time and effort on the part of all involved from the volunteer Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) members, to students, to the BCWWA Education staff.
BCWWA has also moved toward an “Instructor Certification” program which involves a three step process:
- Purchasing & completing a CD ROM on the “Principals of Learning and Instruction”,
- Attending and completing a two day Instructor lead course which works with the application of the adult learning process,
- Finally to shadow an instructor on a specific course. This instructional process is intended to mirror the adult learning process of the course update and upgrade.
While we are improving on our educational processes we also want to explore alternative course delivery options with our end-users, this could be evening courses, on site deliveries, standalone module deliveries, to mention a few options. As such, BCWWA would like to work with both the operators and their employers to search for viable options that make sense for you, with the expectations of cost control, course availability and time flexibility. If this is an approach you wish to discuss further please contact:
