What courses do you offer?
- Please visit our course description page for a list of courses currently offered by BCWWA.
Where and when are the courses being offered?
- Throughout BC and the Yukon, September to June. For the most up-to-date info see the BCWWA website at http://www.bcwwa.org/op_ed/index.php .
Who can take courses? Are there pre-requisites?
- Anybody can take a course, but you should have grade 10 mathematics. Some basic knowledge of the water industry is advantageous.
How do I register?
- You can print a registration form or register online at http://www.bcwwa.org/op_ed/index.php or contact BCWWA’s Education and Training Coordinator for registration forms (604-433-4389 ext. 224).
What is the cost?
- This depends on the length of the course and whether you are a BCWWA Member.
- Operators who wish to take advantage of the member rate must be current BCWWA members at the time of registration.

When and how do I have to pay by?
- Before the course starts payment can be made by: Visa, Mastercard, cheque, cash or purchase order. You can also pay online using your credit card.
Is this course tax deductible?
- No.
When will I get confirmation?
- Approximately two weeks before the course. (This is affected by registration numbers being sufficient to hold course.)
What is your cancellation policy?
- BCWWA CANCELLATION POLICY
- Refunds will be given for cancellations received in writing within 7 working days of the class start date, but subject to a deduction of an administration fee of $50.00 plus HST for a total of $56.00. If you register within the 7-working day period, your order is considered firm. No refund will be given when you cancel your registration. However, a delegate substitution is welcome at all times.
- Courses will be offered subject to minimum registration levels being attained and BCWWA reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule any course.
What is included in the course fee?
- Course manual
- Course textbook (if applicable)
- Note: Food and beverages are not included in the course fee. Please bring your own lunch/snacks to the course.
How do I request a course in my area or for my group?
- BCWWA will try to accommodate course requests as often as possible. Special requests for BCWWA courses in your area or for your group should be directed to BCWWA’s Education and Training Coordinator at 604-433-4389 ext. 224.
Do I receive environmental certification for every BCWWA course?
- You receive a certificate of completion. If, however, you need certification, you must write the EOCP exam.
What is EOCP?
- The Environmental Operators’ Certification Program. (Exams and certification)
Who can write a certification exam?/ How can I get certified?
- Contact EOCP at 1-866-552-3627 or 604-874-4784, Fax 604-874-4794, Email eocp@eocp.org or visit them at www.eocp.org.
Do I receive CEUs for BCWWA courses?
- Yes both certification and specialty courses receive CEUs. For a listing of which BCWWA programs receive CEU please visit the Allocation page on EOCP website.
Will these credits transfer to post secondary institutions?
- Not generally at this time
Do I have to apply separately to write the certification exam?
- Yes! All students must register with the EOCP in order to write the certification exam.
I’m working in the water and waste industry. What courses do I need to take?
- You need to contact EOCP to find out the classification of your facility and what certification level is needed for operators.
I’m changing careers. Is this course going to get me a job?
- This is greatly dependent on the job market and past experience. For a sample of job postings see the BCWWA website http://www.bcwwa.org/jobs/index.php.
