BCWWA Past President Prad Kharé receives Emerson Medal at WEFTEC 07 |
| Date Posted: October 24, 2007 Pradeep Kharé received the prestigious Emerson Distinguished Service Medal from the Water Environment Federation (WEF) at WEFTEC07 in San Diego, Calif. The Emerson Distinguished Service Medal is presented to an individual whose contributions to the wastewater collection and treatment industry most deserves recognition. “This award not only recognizes the excellence and contribution of a noted individual but of a whole community of public health and environmental professionals,” said WEF Executive Director Bill Bertera. Kharé was selected for his thirty years of public and private sector experience, a majority of which has been in the environmental field with the provincial governments of Ontario and British Columbia. Canadian Guidelines for Household Reclaimed Water |
| Deadline: November 9, 2007 Health Canada, on behalf of the Committee on the Health and Environment (CHE), has posted the Canadian Guidelines for Household Reclaimed Water for Use in Toilet and Urinal Flushing on its web site for a 2-month consultation period ending on November 9, 2007. This is a new technical document which proposes guidelines for household reclaimed water quality, as well as guidance on potential elements of a management framework. Message to Certified CCC Testers |
| Date Posted: May 4, 2007 There's been a number of CCC testers concerned over the need to test two PVBA's (pressure vacuum breaker assembly) a year to satisfy the requirement of testing two of each type...more Several years ago, the BCWWA also adopted changes to the approved test procedures concerning the Double Check Valve Assembly (DCVA). These changes included the elimination of the duplex gauge as acceptable test equipment and when using a differential pressure gauge. For more information click here. |

BCWWA working with UBC Co-op Program |
| Date Posted: May 4, 2007 The newest member of the BCWWA team is co-op student Elena Kusaka, who will be analyzing various aspects of the courses offered by the BCWWA. Her work will be used by BCWWA staff in the planning, scheduling and development of courses to ensure we are able to meet the needs for certification courses and continuing education units. Elena will be here for the next four months researching and preparing a report after which she will return to UBC in the fall to complete her B.A. in International Relations and Political Science. Elena has been involved with the UBC Arts Co-op program since her second year. Her previous co-op work term was with Environment Canada in Gatineau, Que. where she worked for the Meteorological Service of Canada helping to coordinate correspondence for the Minister of the Environment. Elena is very excited to be working for the BCWWA and hopes to expand her knowledge of possible career avenues.
