These kits will be mailed out at the end of February 2008. Background
-
1979 – Received Trades Qualification in Plumbing after a four year apprenticeship
-
1985 – Attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) for two years, received diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering Technology
During my career I have had the opportunity to work in the field and learn the “how do we do this” and after taking Engineering courses at BCIT understand the “why do we design this way.”
As the City Of Abbotsford, Manager of Utility Operations I oversee the operations and management (O&M) of the City’s water distribution system, wastewater and storm system, SCADA, and oversee the O&M of the Joint Abbotsford Matsqui Environmental System (JAMES) wastewater plant and the water treatment and transmission system that services both Mission and Abbotsford.
I am very enthusiastic and dedicated to the professionalism required to operate and maintain these systems as well as support the staff that serve the public. As a Director of the BCWWA it would be my intention to try and have our members more informed on what is happening in the industry and bring forward more training opportunities within the BCWWA.

I have been a member of the BCWWA since 1996 and the Chair of the association’s SCADA & IT Committee since its inception in 2003. As an active member of the association, I know that we must ensure that our hardworking volunteers continue to be recognized and appreciated and that our leadership hears the voices of the membership. Through my committee work involving Manufacturers, Consultants and Municipal Utility staff, I have found this recognition to be increasingly more important.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and am currently the SCADA Manager and Director with Dayton & Knight Ltd.’s Electrical Power and Automation group. I am a Board member of the Canadian Industrial Cyber Security Council and an active member of both the Instrumentation Systems and Automation Society (ISA) SP-99 Security Work Group 4 committee and the American Water Works Association Control System Committee. As Director-at-Large, I will bring my experience, personal contacts and expertise to the BCWWA Board to support the association in achieving its vision as being the foremost recognized and most inclusive organization for leadership and knowledge in the water and wastewater industry within British Columbia and the Yukon. |
