Call for Abstracts – FOG Seminar |
| Abstracts Due: July 31, 2008 The Chesapeake Water Environment Association - Collection System Committee is interested in papers for the upcoming full day seminar on Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG). The seminar is scheduled for November 14, 2008 at the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) in Linthicum, MD. This seminar is a follow up to the luncheon seminar on FOG that took place last March 27th. The luncheon generated a lot of interest and many questions and comments were expressed that the CSC wishes be addressed in the upcoming seminar. Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products in the Canadian Environment |
| Posted July 7, 2008 In Canada, residues of pharmaceuticals and personal care products have been found in wastewater effluent, agricultural soils, surface waters, groundwater, and drinking water. Scientists and regulators met to discuss the current state of research on PPCPs in the Canadian environment and identify key actions to guide future research as well as Canada’s path forward on this emerging environmental issue. | Deadline: May 1, 2008 The American Water Works Association will host its fourth annual Career Fair for students, young professionals and job seekers from 1-4 pm June 10 during AWWA’s Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE08) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The ACE08 Career Fair is an ideal opportunity for people interested in careers in the water industry to learn more about the water profession and meet with top water and wastewater firms and utilities. As in the past, more than 200 attendees and 30 exhibitors are expected to participate. Wendy graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in Criminology, and worked as an office assistant at the BCWWA in the summer of 2007. | Posted: April 3, 2008 The Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) has awarded Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for the 2008 BCWWA Annual Conference & Trade Show. The Technical Program for this year will be worth a maximum total of 1.8 CEUs: morning and afternoon sessions on Monday and Tuesday will be valued at 0.3 CEUs each, and each of the Wednesday Technical Transfer Sessions will be worth 0.6 CEUs. Coping with Climate Change: Press Release |
| Posted April 11, 2008 For BC’s engineers, planners and environmental scientists, the need to adapt plans and projects to account for climate change has become critical. In response to this challenge, three of BC’s leading professional organizations, the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA), the BC Water and Waste Association (BCWWA), and the Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA) have been working together to provide leadership on this issue. BC Hydro Recognizes Energy Leadership in Province's Workplaces |
| Deadline: February 29, 2008 BC Hydro is now accepting nominations for a new Power Smart Excellence Award to recognize individuals or teams from across the province, who best exemplify an energy conservation ethic in their workplace. The Workplace Conservation Leadership Award will be presented to employees who have taken steps to reduce their organization's overall environmental footprint through energy conservation measures. Any individual whose role is not energy management is eligible, and awards will be available in three categories: commercial/institutional, industrial and government. In order to receive the Super Saver rates for the 2008 BCWWA Annual Conference & Trade Show, the BCWWA office must receive your registration by 4 p.m. on Monday, March 3rd. Also, if you would like to register your company using the Manufacturers, Suppliers & Consultants (MSC) option (paying the $600 company fee and receiving a reduced rate for additional attendees), the deadline is Friday, March 7th.
