NOTICE TO MEMBERSProposed Bylaw Change: Number of Board Members
Article 2 - Clause 2.1 of our Bylaws states At no time shall the number of Board members exceed fifteen (15).
Changes to our Bylaws require that members be notified 30 days in advance of the motion at the Annual General Meeting. This notice is intended to fulfill this requirement. The motion to be tabled at the Annual General Meeting on April 10, 2001 is:
At no time shall the number of Board members exceed eighteen (18).
Discussion
Over the last several years, we have expanded our services to our
members. Additional Board members have been appointed to represent
both new technical areas and geographic coverage. In 2000, we reached
our maximum number of Board members with the appointment of the
Yukon Director. In order to leave the option open for additional
appointments of Board members to further represent the interests
of our members, the Board proposes to increase the maximum number
of Board members to 18.

Feds Promise Support for Water in Throne Speech
In the speech from the Throne, presented on January 30th, the Federal Government promised new funding for water and waste water systems and research as well as development assistance for surface and ground water supply protection from industrial and agricultural operations.
Safeguarding our water is a shared task among governments, industry and individual Canadians and the Federal Government announced that it intended to fulfill its direct responsibilities for water, including the safety of water supplies on reserves and federal land.
The Government also promised to take the lead in developing stronger national guidelines for water quality by enhancing scientific research and continuing its collaboration with partners. Drawing on expertise within the Government and from across Canada there was a commitment to significantly strengthen the role of the National Water Research Institute. The Government promised to continue to fund improvements to municipal water and waste water systems through the federal-provincial-municipal Infrastructure Canada program.
It also intends to invest in research and development and advanced
information systems to enable better land use and protect surface
and ground water supplies from the impact of industrial and agricultural
operations.
Manufacturer, Supplier, Consultant New Product & Services Announcements
World Water Works, Inc., has recently announced the release of a new Dissolved Air Floatation System constructed entirely of polypropylene. The www/RESOURCE system is a patent pending DAF system, which has provided many industrial facilities with huge cost savings from the efficiency of pre-treatment of wastewater. By constructing this system completely from Polypropylene, the owner will no longer have to be concerned with corrosion from electrical or chemical means. The life span of the system will be four to five fold a carbon-steel system and two to three times a stainless steel system. Just as important, the costs of manufacturing the system are much less. Thus, the owner can achieve highly efficient performance at discounted rates. Based in Nanaimo, BC, please call 800-607-PURE or visit the website at www.Worldwaterworks.com for additional information.
As well, the BK 2000 is now available in BC. A BK 2000 can boost a conventional septic system into an advanced treatment system. Filtration, flow equalization, solids retention and chemical addition are in one economic and easy-to-install unit, which makes septic systems or filter beds work better and last longer.
