Water Treatment Plant Operator

The Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the operation and control of the water plant in order to ensure that residents have safe and clean water in accordance with provincial and municipal legislation, policies and standards.  Responsibilities include water analysis, chemical addition, confirming calibration of on-line instruments, maintaining plant records and logs, process trouble shooting, monitoring the performance of equipment and storage facilities and assisting with maintenance duties. Maintenance duties include general preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities.

We are looking for individuals with:

  • A diploma in Water Treatment Technology and/or Alberta Water Treatment Certification a minimum of Level II
  • Accurate record-keeping and information reporting skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • A demonstrated attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills including previous experience with SCADA
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, chemicals and equipment used in a WTP
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • The ability to perform physical tasks and skill in the use of a variety of tools
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Willingness to work rotating and replacement shifts as required
