Distributed Control System (DCS) Programmer
(Digital Control Software Specialist)
Location: All Wastewater Treatment Plants
DUTIES:
You will be responsible for maintaining a Computer Data Acquisition and Control System (CDACS) comprised of DCS and PLC equipment. This is a Bailey Infi-90 PCV DCS. You will also:
- Implement advanced software applications/logic and automatic control strategies; create new graphical displays;
- Maintain database quality control/accuracy;
- Develop control descriptions;
- Assist operations in process optimization;
- Monitor system utilization and maintain maximum performance/security of the system;
- Provide training;
- Prepare software problem reports and coordinate with system software suppliers to resolve issues;
- Maintain historical database and service requests;
- Attend related training courses/seminars;
- Assist in the evaluation of new equipment, software and procedures; and
- Maintain alarm annunciation systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
Journeyman Instrument Technician Inter-Provincial Certificate OR Instrument Technologist OR degree in computer science OR two-year diploma in computer systems is combined with 3 years' experience in real-time systems configuration in a plant process or manufacturing environment that has encompassed system design, modifications and analysis.
Demonstrated expertise with ABB (Bailey) block programming, PCV5.x and InfiNet.
Demonstrated expertise with Allen Bradley PLC5, SLC500, Control Logix 5000. Knowledge and experience with Smart Instrumentation and DeviceNet equipment with exceptional troubleshooting skills. Knowledge and experience in UNIX and Windows.
Strong instrumentation background and the ability to read engineering drawings is essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work shifts is required, along with a valid BC driver’s license.
