Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator

Five Permanent Full-Time Positions
EPCOR Water Services Inc. has opportunities for Water and Wastewater Treatment Operators in the Fort McMurray area.
Responsibilities include:
- Water and Wastewater plant operations activities (e.g. water quality sampling, process monitoring, evaluation, and control, residuals management, equipment isolations and shutdowns, cleaning, quality assurance/quality control testing);
- Monitor and meet internal quality standards, i.e. Safety & Environmental;
- Data collection for monthly regulatory and operational reporting as required;
- Generate and analyze reports as required, i.e. incident reports, safety reports, and financial reports;
- Troubleshoot day to day operational issues, and develop solutions to rectify these issues;
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures;
- Coordinate facility Maintenance activities; and
- Assist in developing maintenance program.
Qualified candidates are Grade 12 graduates with a combination of applicable operating experience, training, and certification. Level II Certification in Water Treatment and/or Wastewater Treatment is desired. Level I Certification, and one or more years of experience in operating water and/or wastewater plants, is required. Candidates who have completed a recognized water and wastewater operator training program may be considered at a developmental level.
For success in this role, your track record must demonstrate a strong results orientation, a commitment to service and excellence, an ability to work as a team and independently, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, strong initiative, and analytical and decision-making skills. You must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and be willing to travel to various areas within Alberta and British Columbia if required.

Hours of Work: Current shift schedule is eight, 10.0 hour days on, six days off (80.0 hours bi-weekly). Overtime, weekend and shift work, as well as participation in the on-call rotation system is required.
Wage: $29.70 - $37.08 - wage is dependent on the level of active Alberta Environment certifications held.
