FACILITY MAINTENANCE PERSON
The Town of Gibsons has an immediate opening for a motivated individual to fill the role of Facility Maintenance Person.
The Facility Maintenance Person plays a diverse and integral role within the Public Works team to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the municipal infrastructure. The position is primarily responsible for the provision and maintenance of municipal signage, facility maintenance (roads, sidewalks, and civic buildings), garbage collection at public facilities, and the weekend operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The position also assists with Parks maintenance, and the installation, operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection, water supply, and drainage systems.
Qualifications:
- Completion of grade twelve or equivalent.
- Valid current Environmental Operator Certification Program (EOCP) certificate in Wastewater Treatment Level 1 and able to obtain a Water Distribution Level 1.
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License with air endorsement
- Practical training in plumbing, carpentry, minor mechanics, minor electrical, painting, and grounds maintenance.
The preferred candidate will also possess previous Public Works experience, is familiar with WCB regulations and practices, have the ability to work independently, basic computer skills, and is a good communicator that enjoys working with the public. Additional EOCP certification in Wastewater Collection Level 1 would be an asset.
This is a union position reporting to the Director of Public Works. The work schedule includes weekends, and the rate of pay is currently $25.30 per hour for a 37.5 hour work week.
