The Regional District of Nanaimo has an employment opportunity for a Drinking Water Protection Coordinator in the Water Services Department.
Reporting to the Manager of Water Services, you will contribute to the effective planning and operation of the Water Services Department by assisting team members with a variety of administrative, operational and research project tasks associated with the Drinking Water and Watershed Protection program. Duties will include coordinating the activities of the Drinking Water Protection Advisory Committee, researching funding opportunities, organizing and facilitating stakeholder meetings, developing work plans, making presentation at public meetings, overseeing consultants and other related duties as required.
Requirements include an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies or related field plus 5 years prior job related experience in a local government setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, regulations and bylaws is required. Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, including well developed organizational and technical writing skills are essential as well as excellent project management skills and proficiency in wording processing, spreadsheet and computer applications. The current rate of pay is $31.99 - $33.67 per hour. This position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the Collective Agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
