The City of Salmon Arm is inviting applications for the new position of Water Treatment and Distribution Chief Operator/Manager. Reporting to the Utilities Foreman, this is a combined union/management position responsible for supervising all aspects of the daily maintenance and operation of our newly constructed water treatment facilities – a direct filtration and ultraviolet disinfection treatment plant with secondary chlorine disinfection and associated water supply and distribution components.
The Chief Operator/Manager is responsible for maximizing the performance of the water treatment facilities, pumping stations, pressure reducing and control valves, reservoirs and related equipment as well as ensuring the minimization of all safety, health risks and environmental concerns.
The successful candidate for this position will possess Water Treatment Level III certification from the Environmental Operators Certification Program as well as four years operating experience, with at least two years of direct responsibility charge at a Class III or higher water treatment facility. The preferred candidate will possess EOCP Water Treatment Level IV and Water Distribution Level III certificates and/or post secondary education in water treatment, engineering or a related field.
