The Beaver Creek Improvement District has an opening for a permanent full time Waterworks Technician/Supervisor. The Waterworks Technician/Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the waterworks system to ensure that the needs of the Improvement District customers are met.
Duties Include:
Operate and maintain the waterworks system, providing safe and reliable supply of water to the customers; monitoring and recording status of key components of the waterworks system including pump house, Booster Pump Stations south and north reservoirs daily and bi weekly accumulative inspection of distribution system; monitor and maintain chlorine residual levels as required by the Ministry of Health; establishing reliable procedures for disinfection; co-coordinating water main flushing; implementing preventative maintenance program; maintaining inventory control; implementing new installations and projects as required; responding to emergency events or incidents through the established Emergency Response Plan; preparing monthly reports to the Board of Trustees; conducting periodic meter reading to record customer water consumption; preparing detailed operating cost estimates for inclusion in annual budget, supervising work of casual employees and contracted services; operate within the annual budget.
- BCWWA – EOCP Water Distribution Level 3
- Completion of Grade 12; or equivalent knowledge
- Chlorine Handling Certificate
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Considerable experience maintaining chlorination and process monitoring equipment
Candidates will have a minimum of four (4) years combined experience and training in waterworks systems operations, construction and/or maintenance work, training and experience in supervision of staff, and hold a valid class 5 drivers’ license.
This opportunity has a starting wage of $29.35 per hour based on a 40 hour work week and emergency call ins during off-duty hours and includes a comprehensive benefit package as per collective union agreement.
