Nicomekl and Serpentine Sea Dams Preparing for Earthquakes and Sea level Rise in Surrey

Description:The City of New Westminster is developing an Integrated Rainwater Management Plan for the Queensborough area. Different municipalities have different approaches to IRMPs, and within municipalities, each watershed requires a unique IRMP approach. This presentation will provide an overview of the unique challenges and opportunities for adapting rainwater management in Queensborough to changing land use and climate change. A model of the existing storm water network was created and calibrated. Multiple scenarios were modeled to predict the impacts of rising river levels, increased rainfall, and changes to development and land use plans. Issues and challenges resulting from these scenarios, along with options to mitigate these impacts will be presented.
