Relative Performance of Grit Removal Devices

Description:The importance of efficient grit management practices has become a high priority for many treatment plant operations in order to extend equipment life and reduce operating costs. As biological treatment processes continue to evolve to produce better effluent quality in a smaller footprint, pretreatment for grit removal is a crucial step in the overall process. The purpose of this paper is to present data from performance testing of various grit removal systems, generated by a repeatable sampling and analysis methodology, to compare virtually all commercially available grit removal technologies and their removal efficiencies.
