Status of Groundwater Protection Planning in BC

Description:For many years, the largest and most experienced water purveyors in BC who rely on groundwater have been aware of the potential threats to the quality and quantity of water available from aquifers. However, for the majority of purveyors with groundwater-based systems, protection planning began in BC after the Walkerton, Ontario incident in 2000, and in direct response to regulatory requirements imposed by the regional health authorities.
