Are Your Membranes Going Downhill? Integrating Ultrafiltration into a Gravity Water Supply System

Description:The South Fork Water Treatment Plant (SFWTP) is a greenfield WTP currently in detailed design, with a commissioning target date of 2015 and design capacity of 116 ML/d, to serve the City of Nanaimo, BC. The quality of the raw water source (South Fork River) has a 'flashy' characteristic, with frequent, short spikes in turbidity, organics, and colour, particularly during the rainy season. The project is being developed with an emphasis on design initiatives in-line with the City's sustainability goals, including minimizing energy, chemical consumption and residuals.
