Award Information
1. Award Title: BCWWA Small Water System Award
2. Purpose of the Award: To recognize a small water system in British Columbia for initiatives that demonstrates outstanding effort in the delivery of safe drinking water.
3. Granting of Award: Up to five awards may be granted annually with a maximum of one allocated from each Health Region. Each award will consist of recognition for the water system, a plaque, and one complimentary BCWWA AGM conference registration and individual membership. No award will be granted if submissions do not merit such recognition.
4. Frequency of the Award: Annually, if deserved.
5. Eligibility for the Award: All systems with a Small Water System classification or a higher classification that serves less than 500 individuals per day are eligible.
6. Entry Requirements: Any small water system who feel that they might qualify or any Health Authority, Drinking Water Officer, Regional District or consultant, etc. who is aware of a system that has made an outstanding effort in improving the delivery of safe drinking water should consider applying. The attached entry form should be completed and submitted for the award no later than January 31, 2010. Winning water systems may subsequently be requested to submit supporting data for display at the BCWWA Annual Conference and Trade Show.
7. Nomination Procedure: All nominations must be submitted to the BCWWA Small Water Systems Committee by January 31 of the following year.
8. Award Committee Membership: The award committee shall consist of a chair and at least two other Small Water System Committee members.
9. Method of Selecting Award Recipient: The award committee will consider and evaluate each section entry on the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Effectiveness
- Practical applicability for other small water systems
- Benefits for small systems, the water industry, and the public
Winners will be selected on the basis of the above criteria from the nominations received by the submission date. The award committee may contact nominating sponsors to pose specific questions or for clarification of information on the nomination submitted.
10. Presentation of the Award: Winners will be contacted before the award is to be presented. Award plaques will be presented to the Small Water System at the BCWWA Annual Conference. Space will be provided at the conference to display materials from winning entries. Winners will also be recognized in Watermark Magazine and through a local presentation, if requested.
