Senior Utility Operator

This is an exciting opportunity to work for the largest private owner/operator of ski and golf resorts in North America, proudly operating Ski Resorts, Hotels, Golf Courses, and various other attractions and business units, including utilities.

Senior Utility Operator, 1-year temporary position with the possibility of becoming a full-time position

Fernie Alpine Resort Utilities Corporation is currently recruiting for a Senior Utilities Operator for a temporary 1-year term. Reporting to the Resort Development and Utilities Manager, we are looking for a Senior Utility Operator with a passion for the mountain lifestyle. You will contribute to RCR’s mission “To provide the best recreation and vacation experience possible” by ensuring the smooth and safe operations of our water and waste water facility at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate water and wastewater facilities including distribution and collection systems.
  • Monitor operations and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and permit criteria.
  • Maintain operational records as required.
  • Take samples and submit to laboratories as required.
  • Conduct water and wastewater tests as necessary to ensure compliance and to evaluate efficiency of operations.
  • Immediately report non-compliance to the Resort Development and Utility Manager and appropriate regulatory agency.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions or operational challenges and establish contingency plan in consultation with the Regional Resort Development and Utility Manager.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, ensuing a clean and safe working environment, with active participation in the Health and Safety Program
  • Identify and notify Regional Resort Development and Utility Manager of any imminent equipment repair/replacement needs.
  • Establish standard operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Establish facility maintenance plans.
  • Supervise utility operators where necessary.
  • Respond to emergency situations on an on-call basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • 3 to 10 years of related experience.
  • Minimum certification: Level 1 water treatment and Level 3 wastewater treatment or minimum certification necessary to assume responsibility for operating water and wastewaters facilities under direct control.
  • Additional certification above these levels and including wastewater and water distribution would be an asset.
  • Experience in a resort setting would also be an asset.

Working Conditions & Occupational Requirements

  • Flexibility in hours of work may be required, including evening and weekend hours
  • computer work and light lifting required
  • This is a temporary 1-year term position, located in Fernie with the possibility of becoming a full-time role
